Lane closures planned on Route 53 in Long Grove

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Monday that the resurfacing and widening of Route 53 between Long Grove Road and Middlesax Drive in Long Grove will require intermittent, daily lane closures beginning, weather permitting, May 28.

The project consists of resurfacing and widening Illinois 53 to accommodate construction of a center turn lane through the project limits. Other project elements include paved shoulders, drainage improvements, retaining walls and new guardrail.

The work is expected to be complete by end of November.

Drivers can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through the area. They're also urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
