Casten to lead infrastructure discussion in Barrington

U.S. Rep. Sean Casten will join local officials and representatives of the American Society Of Civil Engineers for a panel discussion on the financial impact of infrastructure investment from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in Barrington.

Titled "Failure to Act: What Infrastructure Means for Local Illinois Economies," the event will take place in the second-floor meeting room at Barrington's village hall, 200 S. Hough St.

Among those joining Casten, a Democrat from Downers Grove who represents the 6th District, will be Karen Kabbes, president of Kabbes Engineering Inc.; Rick Mattoon, senior economist and economic advisor with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; Pete Mesha, national transportation committee chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies; Algonquin Village President John Schmitt; P.S. Sriraj, transportation center director of the University of Illinois at Chicago and Metropolitan Transportation Support Initiative Director; and Alison Howlett Walters, executive director of Chicago Laborers District Council Labor-Management Cooperation Committee and co-chairwoman of Transportation for Illinois Coalition.
