East Aurora Dist. 131 teacher punished for social media post

A teacher in East Aurora School District 131 was placed on leave on Tuesday for complaining about fifth-graders in a vulgar way in a Facebook post.

"Be assured that we take this matter very seriously. We are certain that the language used in the post does not reflect the professionalism and attitudes of District 131 teachers and staff, who care deeply for children and work hard each day to build positive relationships with students," a post on the district's website read.

The Daily Herald obtained a screenshot of the teacher's Facebook post Tuesday evening. Along with the crude message about the students, the post contained a picture of the teacher with a put-upon expression.

Administrators learned about the post Monday night, the district said.

"Since that time, our superintendent's office has investigated the matter, met with the employee, and placed the individual on administrative leave until further notice," the district said on its website.

The teacher has since deleted her Facebook account.
