The Silent Film Society of Chicago is sponsoring a fundraiser at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in what's described as an effort to help keep downtown Barrington's Catlow Theater in business.

Highlights of the event are expected to include the silent film short "The Haunted House" starring Buster Keaton and a full-length feature with Charlie Chaplin, "The Kid." There will be a live organ accompaniment by Jay Warren, with film historian Annette Bochenek introducing the movies.

Door will open at 1 p.m. at the Catlow, 116 W. Main St. There will be miniature horses from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in front of the Catlow from Soul Harbor Ranch animal therapy program, along with free posters and a costume contest. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite silent movie star.

Tickets will be $15 at the door on the day of show and $5 for those 18 and younger.
