Two teen girls shot in Waukegan

Two teenage girls were wounded by gunfire Thursday in Waukegan, police said.

Police were alerted to the shooting about 5 p.m. They responded to a residential neighborhood at the intersection of Eighth Avenue and Prescott Street and found the teens in the street, wounded, police said.

One girl is from Gurnee and the other is from Waukegan, police said. Both were treated at a hospital and released.

Waukegan police are investigating and called the shooting an isolated incident that stemmed from an argument.

No arrests have been made nor were any weapons recovered, police said.
