Oakton Six Piano Ensemble performs at April 27-28 concerts

The Oakton Six Piano Ensemble, conducted by Skokie resident Glenna Sprague, will perform selections from the classical, ragtime and popular repertoire 8 p.m. Saturday, April 27, and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Oakton Community College's Footlik Theater, 1600 East Golf Road, Des Plaines.

This year's concerts will include the "Overture" and "Habanera" from the opera "Carmen" by Bizet, "Spanish Dance" by Moszkowski, "The Strenuous Life Rag" by Joplin and "Oakton Toccata," composed by Robert Vandall as a tribute to the ensemble in 2008. Other featured selections are by composers Bach, Handel, Mozart, Schumann, Szymanowska and Sousa.

Founded by Sprague, Oakton professor and coordinator of music, the ensemble has delighted audiences for more than 25 years.
