Buffalo Grove Rotary seeks nominations for Reid Award

The Buffalo Grove Rotary Club is seeking nominations for the Bill Reid Community Service Award given annually to a person who demonstrates a strong commitment to the Buffalo Grove community.

Reid who was a longtime resident and village trustee affectionately known as "Mr. Buffalo Grove." He also was a charter member of the Buffalo Grove Rotary Club, active community volunteer and educator for 30 years in Northwest Suburban High School District 214.

The award in his honor was first given in 2001, a year after his death.

Nominations are due by June 1 to: Executive Director, 530 Bernard Drive, Buffalo Grove, Illinois 60089, Attn: Ryan Risinger, Committee Chairperson, or via email to ryan@bgparks.org. Nominators should attach a written summary of the nominee's Buffalo Grove community service activities, and any other supporting letters, statements or documentation to support the nomination. Nominators are also asked to secure a written "second" to the nomination prior to submitting the form, which can be found at bgrotary.org.

The award recognition will include a public ceremony with a presentation of a recognition plaque, a $500 contribution to the charity of the award recipient's choice in the recipient's name and a $500 contribution in the recipient's name to The Rotary Foundation. The recipient's name will also be inscribed on the permanent award recognition plaque located in the Buffalo Grove Village Hall.

The presentation of the award is tentatively scheduled to occur at the July 4th Rotary Village Green Concert, but will be based on the recipient's availability.
