Authorities: Waukegan man sold heroin near school

A Waukegan man was charged after selling heroin to an undercover police detective twice within 500 feet of a school, authorities said.

Kevaughn D. Bridges-Butler, 19, of the 100 block of Philippa Street, was arrested Wednesday.

The final sale did not occur near a school, authorities said. However, Bridges-Butler sold heroin to undercover detectives near a Waukegan school on Washington Street on two other occasions, authorities said. School was in session in each of those instances, authorities said.

"Selling drugs is bad enough; selling them near a school is downright revolting," Sheriff John Idleburg said.

Bridges-Butler has been charged with multiple counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He remains held in Lake County jail on $200,000 bail.
