Rolling Meadows Ward 5 race too close to call
Only two votes separate two candidates for Ward 5 alderman in Rolling Meadows, according to the latest election returns.
Glenn Adams led Jon Bisesi by three votes late Tuesday night, but additional ballots counted overnight by the Cook County clerk's office now give Bisesi a two-vote lead.
Bisesi has 63 votes, Adams has 61 and park district employee Joe Szafran has 16, the clerk's office said.
James Scalzitti, an office spokesman, said there still is the potential for provisional and mail-in ballots to be counted, though it's unknown how many may be outstanding.
The clerk has until April 16 to count ballots postmarked by Election Day.
Bisesi previously ran for alderman eight years ago, losing to Rob Banger Jr., who didn't seek re-election this year after two terms. Bisesi was appointed to the planning commission in 2003, and currently serves as chairman of what is now called the planning and zoning commission.
Adams was alderman from 1997 to 2011 and currently is chairman of the city's economic development committee.
Other results in Rolling Meadows were more certain Tuesday. In Ward 3, Kevin O'Brien, the park board president and a member of the city's planning and zoning commission, defeated six-year incumbent Alderman Laura Majikes. In Ward 7, Lara Sanoica, a 27-year-old member of the city's environmental committee, beat Rob Williams, who was appointed alderman by Mayor Len Prejna in July when Tim Veenbaas moved out of state.
Ward 1 Alderman Mike Cannon and Ward 2 Alderman Nick Budmats ran unopposed.
