North Aurora man who molested two girls gets probation, sex offender treatment

A North Aurora man arrested and charged with two separate cases of sexually abusing girls he knew has been sentenced to three years of probation and sex offender treatment after pleading guilty this month.

Shane Lindholm, 48, of the 500 block of Wingfoot Drive, was arrested and charged in April 2018 with several counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under 13 after he was accused of molesting a girl from Dec. 1, 2017 through March 1, 2018, Kane County court records show.

While free on bond, Lindholm was arrested again, also on charges of sexually abusing a girl under 17, also from December 2017 through March 2018, court records show.

Lindholm pleaded guilty in mid-March to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in each of the two cases and prosecutors dismissed similar charges in both cases, court records show. He can be resentenced to up to seven years in prison if he violates his probation.

Judge John Barsanti accepted the guilty pleas and sentences, which also require Lindholm to wear an alcohol monitoring device for 120 days, records show.

Defense attorney David Camic said his client must follow treatment recommendations from an evaluation and was not a risk to reoffend.

"The acts that led to his arrest were entirely related to alcohol abuse and not any criminally predatory condition," Camic said. "He's back with his family and they're putting their lives back together."

Lindholm can be resentenced to up to seven years in prison if he violates his probation and is to have no contact with two area women and their children through 2024, according to court records. He also must register as a sex offender, records show.
