No one injured in West Dundee fire

No one was injured during a fire that extensively damaged the attached garage of a home on the 600 block of Prestwick Court in West Dundee Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The homeowner noticed black smoke coming from the garage, exited the house and called 9-1-1 at around 1 p.m., according to a news release issued by the village of West Dundee.

When firefighters arrived they found heat and heavy black smoke in the attached garage; the blaze was extinguished in about 25 minutes, according to the news release.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. According to West Dundee the fire did around $20,000 worth of damage to the home.

West Dundee firefighters were assisted by crews from Rutland Dundee, East Dundee, Carpentersville and Elgin Fire Departments.
