Barrington High School hosts active shooter drill

Barrington High School - which is on spring break - was the setting Friday morning for an active shooter drill for police, fire and school district personnel.

They spent much of the morning engaged in the training exercise that brought a large first responder presence to the campus. Some of the various scenarios Friday included teachers running from the school building to safety, a victim with a simulated wound receiving treatment from a paramedic and officers clad in bullet-resistant vests with shields and weapons drawn entering the school building.

Barrington officials issued a message on social media Thursday to alert residents to the drill.
