Three dogs die in Arlington Heights house fire

Three dogs died late Wednesday in an Arlington Heights house fire that caused extensive damage and left the structure uninhabitable, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on the 200 block of West Lasalle Street about 10:15 p.m. after the homeowner dialed 911. Crews found heavy fire conditions in the garage and rear of the two-story single family home, said Deputy Fire Chief Pete Ahlman. They were able to extinguish the fire within an hour, he added.

There were no injuries.

The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.

"We were there last night collecting information and statements from the homeowners, but a determination is not done yet," Ahlman said.
