Palatine man hit with multiple drug charges, weapons charge

Palatine police charged a 31-year-old man with multiple drug offenses and an illegal gun possession, authorities said Tuesday.

Brian G. Lister, of the 1300 block W. Deer Court in Palatine, was charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, with intent to deliver, one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, MDMA/ecstasy, with intent to deliver, and one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Police executed a search warrant at Lister's home on Thursday and found more than 100 grams of cocaine and more than 30 pills of MDMA/ecstasy and several other items believed to be controlled substances, which are being tested in a lab. Police also found drug paraphernalia, digital scales, packaging for narcotic sales, money and a Winchester shotgun.

Lister was not home when police executed the search warrant and refused to cooperate with investigators, according to a news release issued by Palatine police.

Lister was apprehended by police just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday when he was driving west on Algonquin Road near Harper College. Palatine police were conducting a roadside safety checkpoint for St. Patrick's Day and officers recognized Lister when he was stopped. He was taken into custody without incident.

On Monday, Lister was taken to the Rolling Meadows courthouse where a judge set his bond at $100,000. His next court date is March 25.
