68-year-old man identified as victim of Round Lake Park house fire

A 68-year-old man has been identified as the person who died last week in a Round Lake Park fire that left two others injured.

Gregory Gauvain died of fire-related injures suffered in the March 14 blaze at his home, the Lake County coroner's office reported Tuesday. Toxicology results are pending, officials said.

The Grayslake Fire Protection District was called to the fire in the Saddlebrook Farms Subdivision at about 11:55 p.m. March 14, authorities said. Crews first on scene found smoke coming from the one-story, single-family home, authorities said.

Gauvain was trapped inside and died, authorities said. A male neighbor and a female resident were injured escaping the fire, authorities said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Grayslake Fire Protection District and the Round Lake Park Police Department.
