Issue questions

What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?

Growth, both new housing and infill (downtown density), I have been and will continue to be interested in how Batavia can improve downtown revitalization. I think that we can have multiple types of buildings in our downtown that will attract many different types of business and housing options. I am excited about the Changes that have occurred and continue to enhance the allure of downtown living.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I think I have the experience and willingness to continue serving my hometown with no agendas, axes to grind or any motives other that making Batavia a town that continues to provide opportunity for families to live, work and call this place home.

Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board or city council.

I think I have become more of a listener and try to lead my fellow CC members by keeping us on task. My time on council has taught me many things, and I try to find ways to find the solutions with the knowledge we have available to us as council members.

How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?

I believe that Batavia is in stable condition. For many years we have been very careful to have low property tax rates, and carefully go through our budgets to assure services are provided at levels our community expects. Continued planning is paramount in moving this city forward, as is community involvement in commissions that add to the knowledge base available to our council processes.

What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?

More integrated public transportation options for our community to connect to rail in Geneva and Aurora.
