What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?
High property taxes and crime-We need more economic development to offset the increase in property taxes-more business tax revenues less tax hikes-we also need to see why the casino was generating over 16m a years in tax revenues to the city and now brings a lot less and that affects residential properties one way or the other-we also need to seriously take a second look into The TIF situation and Pensions which every major city has to deal with and its harming our ability to stay under a balanced budget. Crime-I propose to stablish a "Connected approach"- Direct texts and an interactive webpage/and/or/email system also there are other free applications for your cell phone and computer example…Nextdoor…It's a neighborhood crime app updated by the Aurora police department on current crimes etc… most of all is neighborhood Involvement establishing committees composed of senior citizens and churches.
What makes you the best candidate for the job?
Named State of Illinois outstanding community leader 2015- named Professional Advisory Committee outstanding member of the year at coyne college-I serve my community through local city boards as described before above Aurora business owner for 24 years-I lead by example and I do so because I love people and networking through dialogue is a better way to keep in touch with concerned citizens to better our city and brotherly love.
Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board or city council.
I lead by example. I tend to go above expectations and beyond whether it's in business / community /Responsibilities or boards involvement. I love to think outside the box when dealing with financial situations /Business or People. I have been blessed with knowing very highly regarded business owners and politicians over the years. I believe We learn from others and our own mistakes. I know
In my heart i will do an otstanding job as the 1st ward alderman and I trust my lord and saviour Jesus Christ to lead me.
How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?
Budgets are defined by revenues generated. We are currently falling into a deficit and will be running into financial trouble (if not under one now) our current ward budget is around 84k as listed on last year's 2017-2018. This is very low and by no means is considered enough to have any serious impact if we are to help our community's needs I like to see us double it or triple it without asking for tax increases this can be done by bringing more big businesses into our city and local ward to generate more tax revenues without residential tax increases. WE can also establish a committee board and get the local businesses to help out and how we can
Help them to increase their potential.
What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?
Staying informed -the city government-police department and our local community services-(ward ) these entities "live" The key is Information Live-To hold all entities accountable and get faster response even a 24 hr. Services Emergency hotline (pending budget of course) The second option I will install is to establish a ward committee composed of senior citizens and church leaders and myself Together we can hold city government /services accountable and ourselves fully informed. We will create a 'Live' Interactive application similar to an existing one already called NEXTDOOR.
