Chicago man faces drug charges after traffic stop

A Chicago man faces drug charges, including possession of LSD, after a traffic stop in Round Lake Park, police said in a news release.

Abdulumer Ahmed, 28 of the 6000 block of Artesian Avenue, was stopped by a Round Lake Park police officer at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday, near Hainesville Road and Washington Street for a vehicle equipment violation. A computer inquiry revealed Ahmed had an outstanding Lake County warrant for failure to appear on a previous drug charge. Additionally, Ahmed was charged with: illegal transportation of alcohol; possession of cannabis, less than 10 grams; possession of a controlled substance, 11 hits of LSD - Class 4; and driving an uninsured vehicle.

Police said Ahmed appeared in bond court Tuesday and bail was set at $25,000. He would have to pay 10 percent or $2,500 to be released.
