Issue questions
What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?
One of the issues facing our community is the many empty buildings in our ward and city. I plan to reach out to different Chambers of Commerce, not only in Aurora but surrounding areas. I will try to form a business outreach committee. In this committee we would devise a plan on how to attract businesses to Aurora. I would also reach out to elected officials at both the state and Federal level to see how we could attract more businesses and jobs to Aurora. Another issue is renewable energy. I would like to see city buildings using more renewable energy, like solar power. This would save the city and residents money.
What makes you the best candidate for the job?
I serve and have served on many community based boards and organizations in various capacities from volunteering to Executive positions. I like to think outside the box and extend an olive branch to anyone who is willing to work hard and make our community a safe and thriving City. I'm also a business owner for over 20 years and know about budgets, quotes and dealing with different customers, vendors and solving difficult problems. I have lived in Aurora for over 40 years and have seen the good, the bad and the worse. I plan on staying in Aurora and bringing my life experiences to my elected office of Alderman.
Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board or city council.
I am able to work with many diverse people, even those who think very differently. I am able to negotiate under stressful situations and find a common ground which will benefit our city.
How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?
We have a large budget being the second largest city in Illinois, and right now it's not in the red. But I hear many residents complain about taxes, and fees constantly going up. I would like to see the city tighten the budget while still providing top notch services to its residents and I think this is possible by moving more towards renewable energy and also being more cautious in spending.
What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?
I would use the Fox Valley River as an energy source to power our buildings with electricity.
