Issue questions
What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?
We will soon have the judge's decision in our court case with the Archdiocese on the 40 acres on Butterfield Road. If we lose we will have to decide whether to continue the fight, I believe we should. We also are facing a $45MM stormwater infrastructure decision on how we plan to pay for it. We have looked at many options, and most will be unpopular because the cost will be a potential burden on our residents. We will have a series of Town Hall meetings laying out the option to get public input.
What makes you the best candidate for the job?
Having lived here all my life, raised my family here and now have grandchildren growing up here. I feel I have had to pay back for this life. Being involved means you care about your Village and its residents. I bring an honest, no string attached and dedicated value to the residents of Libertyville.
Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board.
I'm a leader that needs all the facts and relies on the expertise of our department heads, board members, consultants and input from our residents. I'm very inclusive in making an important decision, I feel it's the most effective way.
How would you describe the condition of your community's budget and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?
We have a balanced budget going into 2019-20, but each year going forward is going to be a challenge. We have to look at potential TIF districts to improve certain areas of the Village as well as grants, our fee structure and inter-government agreements.
What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?
I was brought up to the Board from the Planning and Zoning Commission. I would like to streamline the process residents have in obtaining approval for variances.
