More charges against suspect in $6,000 Aurora coin theft
An Aurora teen accused of stealing $6,000 in coins from a vending business in December has also been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and a separate vehicle burglary, according to police and court records.
Keynaz J. Foster, 18, of the 1700 block of Felton Road, was arrested Dec. 28, 2018, and a 16-year-old juvenile was arrested in early January on felony burglary and theft charges from a Dec. 26 break-in at a business on the 1700 block of Mallette Road from which coins, a money-counting machine and other items were stolen.
Police said they pulled Foster over because his license was revoked and he had active warrants; one of the warrants was for burglarizing a vehicle on Nov. 29 on the 1600 block of Sheffer Road in Aurora and using stolen credit cards to make six purchases of more than $300, court records show.
Officers later searched his vehicle and found items from the Dec. 26 coin burglary, police said. Officers then honed in on the juvenile, who was arrested on Jan. 3.
While free on bond, Foster was charged on Feb. 19 with felony possession of a stolen vehicle and misdemeanor resisting arrest after a traffic stop at 8:19 a.m. on the 1700 block of Felton Road, according to court records.
He is accused of possessing a stolen 2017 Subaru Crosstek.
And over the weekend, charges related to an Oct. 3, 2018, burglary also were filed against Foster.
According to Aurora police Sgt. Bill Rowley, the charges stem from a vehicle burglary in the parking lot of Planet Fitness, 970 N. Lane St., in which a woman's purse was stolen.
Foster is being held at the Kane County jail on $150,000 bail, meaning he must post $15,000 to be released while the cases are pending.
He is next due in court on March 8 and faces up to seven years in prison in the coin theft, seven years in prison on the stolen vehicle charge, seven years in prison on the November burglary charge and five years in prison on the October purse theft charge.
All the felony cases are eligible for probation as well.
