Palatine council OKs two-day St. Patrick's celebration

Palatine village council members this week gave a thumbs-up to what will be two days of St. Patrick's Day fun outside a popular downtown establishment.

Tap House Grill will have a disc jockey, live music and Irish-themed food and beer under a parking lot tent on Saturday, March 16, which is the day of Palatine's St. Patrick's Day parade. Tap House will extend the weekend fun to St. Patrick's Day itself on Sunday, March 17.

Village council members approved a recommendation from Palatine's top administrators to allow Tap House's tent to be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 16 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 17. The council also granted outdoor waivers of the village's sound amplification ordinance from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 16 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 17.

Palatine's ninth annual St. Patrick's Day parade will step off downtown at 11 a.m. March 16. Last year's parade attracted at least 50 entries.
