How to get mental health help for yourself or someone else
Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Suicide rates increased in nearly every state from 1999 through 2016, a year that saw nearly 45,000 people end their lives, the CDC reported.
Suicide warning signs noted by the CDC include:
• Feeling like a burden.
• Being isolated.
• Increased anxiety.
• Increased substance abuse.
• Increased anger.
• Sleeping too little or too much.
• Expressing hopelessness and talking or posting online about wanting to die.
