About 300 remain without power Wednesday evening

About 300 customers were without power throughout Chicago and the suburbs by Wednesday night as the area continued to endure historically low temperatures, according to ComEd's outage map.

ComEd reported power had been restored to more than 52,000 customers throughout Wednesday. More than 500 crews are responding to the remaining outages.

"As night falls, and Mother Nature continues to grip our service area with extremely cold temperatures, our 500+ ComEd and contractor crews will continue to restore power to those experiencing outages," the company said in a tweet.

At 10 p.m., Cook County had 219 customers without power, followed by Lake County with 35 and Will County with 20.

"Our crews worked throughout the night to restore power to customers who experienced outages," ComEd President and CEO Terence R. Donnelly said in a written statement on Wednesday. "The extreme cold can create very challenging conditions for customers and our crews, who are working around the clock to restore service. We strongly recommend that our customers take whatever precautions are necessary to stay safe."

If you need to find a warming station until your power is restored, they are listed at http://ComEd.com/StayWarmIL.
