Grayslake District 46 welcomes Wheeling District 21 official as new superintendent
After a long search, the Grayslake District 46 school board has named Lynn Glickman as its new superintendent.
Glickman, the assistant superintendent of human resources at Wheeling Township Elementary District 21, said she has long had a positive impression of Grayslake schools and, when she began researching the district to prepare for her interview, she liked what she learned.
“I saw there was strong student achievement in the school district,” she said. “I saw it was a fit with the work I've been doing the last 20 years as an administrator.”
Glickman said that when she met with the school board, she presented her plan to help the school district.
“I put together that by information on a website, not by walking the hallways of a school or meeting one on one with administrators,” Glickman said. “Walking and talking with people will give me the qualitative information I need.”
The terms of Glickman's contract were not immediately available.
Glickman will take over for Ellen Correll, who has held the top job since January 2005. When Correll signed her most recent contract in August 2016, the district announced it would be her last.
Glickman will take over for Correll July 1.
Board President Steven Strack said the board is excited to have Glickman aboard.
“Her experiences in Wheeling closely reflect the qualities that were outlined in the superintendent search profile for Grayslake 46,” Strack said. “Her friendliness, enthusiasm, energy and passion for children as well as her systems approach to creating a strong organization, will be well received by the students, staff and families in our community.“
