Schneider joins health, Social Security subcommittees

Congressman Brad Schneider was appointed Wednesday to the Subcommittee on Health and the Subcommittee on Social Security in the House Committee on Ways and Means.

The Subcommittee on Health handles legislation and oversight of the Affordable Care Act, in particular the tax credits that help consumers afford coverage. The subcommittee also has jurisdiction over Medicare, including overseeing the Medicare Trust Fund, payments to health care providers, and the Medicare Advantage and Part D programs.

The Subcommittee on Social Security handles all legislation and oversight related to the Social Security system.

"I am excited about these subcommittee assignments and the opportunity to strengthen the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Social Security benefits that thousands of 10th District constituents depend on," said Schneider, a Democrat from Deerfield who represents the 10th Congressional District.
