$100 to help friend caring for sister

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Debbie Kendrick of Carol Stream. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"Joan is the person in her family who everyone goes to for almost everything.

"She never says no. She's an excellent cook, a great baker, but most importantly the most awesome caregiver to her younger sister, who has cancer. I truly believe Joan is the reason her sister is here today.

"Joan spent a summer at Mayo Clinic while her sister underwent surgery and treatment. Joan now lives part time with her sister, though she still must commute about an hour home to also care for her husband ... who is also a cancer survivor, and trying to manage her own health issues. She also helps care for her sister's two grandsons two to three days a week.

"Joan recently fell and injured her back, and money has been tight. A $100 gift could help pay for some gas and perhaps for someone assist with house chores."

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 daily in January to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
