Neuqua Valley senior wins video contest

Neuqua Valley High School senior Megan Kosak has been named the winner of a video contest about teen distracted driving sponsored by the Naperville Police Department and AAA Chicago.

Kosak will receive a $750 scholarship from the department's Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 42 for her video, which features two common distracting factors for teen drivers: other teen passengers and cellphones.

Her video encourages teens to "speak up, say something for your safety."

The contest's second-place finisher, Neuqua Valley High School student Ryan Leshock, will receive a $250 scholarship from the police union as well.

The contest is part of a safety campaign encouraging all drivers to avoid distractions while behind the wheel.
