Ballot set: Unopposed races for presidents of Wayne, Pingree Grove

Filing ended Monday for people seeking to become the next presidents of several Fox Valley villages.

Wayne President Eileen Phipps filed her paperwork last week for re-election, as did Pingree Grove Village President Steve Wiedmeyer. Both will run unopposed in April.

Phipps has been president since 1995. Wiedmeyer is seeking his second term.

In November, Elgin Mayor David Kaptain and Councilwoman Carol Rauschenberger filed to run for mayor.

Also in November, Mike Tyrrell filed to run for president of Campton Hills. He, too, is unopposed. Current President Harry Blecker did not seek re-election.

The consolidated election is April 2. Besides mayors and presidents, residents will elect village trustees, city aldermen, and members of park, school, library, fire district and community college boards.
