Rolling Meadows to get first video gambling cafe

Rolling Meadows is set to get its first video gambling cafe, offering five machines for players to test their luck, along with a full menu of food and drink.

Daisy's Cafe, which has locations in Itasca and Stone Park, plans to open its third location early next year at 3334 Kirchoff Road in downtown Rolling Meadows.

"We're excited to be part of the city in the downtown community," said Todd Yormark, who is a co-owner along with brother Tim.

The pair currently is overseeing the interior build out of the 1,400-square-foot strip mall space, which was a former Supercuts. In addition to a separate area for the video machines, the 21-and-over establishment will have a wraparound bar with TVs, lowboy and highboy tables and lounge chairs.

The bar/cafe will serve beer, wine and mixed drinks, and offer a menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees, which will be a wider selection than the other two Daisy's locations, the owners say.

"It'll be very modern and clean where local customers can feel comfortable and where they can eat, drink and enjoy gaming all at the same time," Todd Yormark said.

The city council last week approved a liquor license for the business. The next step is to receive a state license from the Illinois Gaming Board before it can open.

Earlier this year, city aldermen passed an ordinance allowing video gambling in an effort to remain competitive with establishments in other towns that permit the machines.
