Senior citizens enjoy dinner, concert at Libertyville High

Libertyville High School welcomed senior citizens from the community for a free dinner and concert Tuesday.

The meal was served by students in the National Honor Society and Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 employees. Chicken Kiev, rice, vegetables and cake were on the menu.

Libertyville High has hosted the annual event for decades. It's one of District 128's ways of saying thank you to the senior residents who have supported and continue to support the high schools. district spokeswoman Mary Todoric said.

After dinner, Superintendent Prentiss Lea welcomed the guests and invited the oldest person at each table to keep the poinsettia centerpiece. A performance by the Libertyville High School Holiday Choral Festival followed.
