Lindenhurst enhances 911 service

Daily Herald report

Lindenhurst has enhanced its emergency services with notifications via Smart911. Individuals and families can sign up online to provide optional, key information to 911 telecommunicators during an emergency. Residents can create a safety profile that includes any information, which is automatically displayed, they want telecommunicators and response teams to have. Additional information, such as the number of pets, vehicle detail or emergency contacts can be include in the profile. Authorities say the advantage is mobile phones don't provide addresses when 911 is called. The information is made available to the 911 system only in the event of an emergency call.
