Lake County property owners can save on flood insurance

Property owners in unincorporated Lake County may be eligible to save an average $281 a year on flood insurance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Community Rating System program.

Residents who meet certain requirements can save up to 20 percent on premiums. Contact your flood insurance agent for information on coverage, pricing and CRS flood insurance discounts.

Lake County also works with homeowners to elevate structures above the regulatory floodplain elevation to prevent future flooding; coordinates with other agencies to respond to drainage complaints; and helps fund local stormwater projects. Visit https://www.floodsmart.gov/.
