Authorities identify Waukegan stabbing victim

Authorities on Thursday identified the 38-year-old Waukegan man they say was stabbed to death by his wife earlier this week.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday on Raoof Siddiqui, in which preliminary results indicate he died from injuries caused by sharp force trauma, according to Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper. Toxicology tests are pending, Cooper added.

On Tuesday, police responded to a home on Swallowtail Drive after they received a call about 7:30 a.m. from Siddiqui's wife, who said she had just stabbed her husband, according to police. Authorities have identified the 47-year-old woman as a suspect but not yet released her name.

Officers took the woman into custody near Belvidere Road and Knight Avenue after she left the home in a black SUV, police said. She had serious self-inflicted injuries and was rushed to the hospital, they said.

Back at the home, cops found Siddiqui, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
