Oakton hires new business and career programs dean

Oakton Community College has hired a new associate vice president for workforce education/dean of business and career programs.

Marc Battista, currently dean of sustainability, business and career technologies at Elgin Community College, will start at Oakton Monday, Jan. 7. He will be paid $120,000. The college's job search began in July and yielded 75 applications.

At Oakton, Battista will be responsible for long- and short-term planning and implementation for the adult education, business and career programs, as well as continuing education and workforce development credit and noncredit areas of the college, officials said.

Battista has worked at Elgin since January 2016, overseeing academic programs that include business and office careers, hospitality professions, transportation careers, public service professions and industrial technologies. He's previously worked at City Colleges of Chicago, Triton College and Kaplan International English.
