Sheriff: Woman damaged vehicles, St. Charles-area house with garden hoe

A 30-year-old Franklin Park woman is accused of using a 4-foot garden hoe to damage two vehicles and break into a St. Charles-area house.

Adilene Pimentel, of the 2600 block of Elder Court, has been charged with felony home invasion with a dangerous weapon and two counts of criminal damage to property in connection with the attack last weekend.

Kane County sheriff deputies were called at 12:10 p.m. Saturday for a report of a woman using what was thought to be an ax to damage a house on the 7N100 block of Route 25 near St. Charles, according to a sheriff's report.

As it turns out, authorities said, Pimentel drove to the house with a 4-foot garden hoe, used it to damage a 2016 Toyota Camry and then began hitting the front door of the house.

"This caused damage to the door and the door to open," wrote Kane County Sheriff Chief Deputy Pat Gengler, the department spokesman. "She entered the breezeway of the occupied residence. She eventually walked out of the residence and was eventually taken into custody. She had a prior friendship with the homeowners adult daughter. The daughter was not home but at least 3 other people were in the residence at the time of the incident."

Pimentel also is accused of spraying some type of lighter fluid on a Camry and a 2002 Ford F250 pickup truck, according to a sheriff's report.

The most severe charge is home invasion with a dangerous weapon, a felony punishable by six to 30 years in prison and no chance of probation. No one was injured.

One person at the house said she worked with Pimentel about five years ago at a car dealership and had been "stalked and harassed" by Pimentel since then, according to the report.

At the jail, Pimentel told deputies she had stopped by for a short visit, according to a sheriff's report. Pimentel said she knocked on the door, no one answered and she went back to her car, where she was met by authorities called to the scene, according to the report.

Pimentel is being held at the Kane County jail on $75,000 bail, meaning she must post $7,500 to be released while the case is pending. She is next due in court Monday for a hearing on reducing her bond amount.
