Settlement reached in suit against West Dundee couple who posted negative comments

The owners of a Dixon-area private campground have settled a libel lawsuit against a West Dundee couple over disparaging social media comments after a July dispute.

Ronald and Judith Lang sued Veronica Flegenheimer and Johnny Morales for more than $50,000 in damages, arguing the couple made false and malicious statements about the campground, which is made up of four privately owned islands on the Rock River.

The West Dundee couple were canoeing along the river, stopped at a campground and asked Judith Lang for a ride to Morales' vehicle. according to the suit. Lang refused, citing a 40-minute round trip due to construction and that her husband had just had a radiation treatment for cancer.

The lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice - meaning it cannot be refiled - after the two sides entered into a "written settlement agreement" that was approved by Judge Susan Clancy Boles on Nov. 1, Kane County records show.

Terms of the agreement were not included in the court file, and neither the attorney for the Langs nor the attorney for the West Dundee couple returned phone messages.
