Body found Saturday morning on Highland Park beach

An autopsy will be performed Tuesday on the body of a woman that washed ashore Saturday morning in Highland Park, according to officials.

Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said he was told the body had been found on a beach in Highland Park about 11 a.m. Saturday. The body was taken directly to the morgue, Cooper said.

"We're in the process of making identification and notification now," Cooper said. "We will release more information after the autopsy."

Last Sunday, Highland Park rescue teams began searching for a 52-year-old Elgin woman named Lena Lamesh, who was out swimming with nine other members of a cold-water swimming group when she disappeared.

A second member of the group, Stanislaw Wlosek Jr., 46, of Itasca, was pulled from the water by emergency responders and taken to Highland Park Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
