Taylor retains Lake County Board District 19 seat

Incumbent Republican Craig Taylor has defeated Democrat Geoffrey Petzel in the race to represent District 19 on the Lake County Board, according to the unofficial vote total Tuesday night.

With all 26 precincts and early votes reporting, Taylor has around 59 percent of the total and Petzel has around 41 percent.

Taylor, 73, from Lake Zurich, has been on the board since 2009. An Air Force veteran and an employee at United Airlines for 40 years, Taylor also previously served as a Lake Zurich village trustee for two terms from 2001 to 2009.

Petzel, 35, is a small-business owner from Lake Zurich. He hasn't held public office before but has run for U.S. Congress twice.

District 19 includes Lake Zurich, Barrington, Deer Park, Kildeer and portions of Long Grove.
