Democrat Kious narrowly beats out GOP Patrician in Kane County District 23

Democrat Chris Kious appears to have narrowly defeated Republican Jim Patrician in the race for Kane County Board District 23.

Unofficial results with all precincts reporting show 3,147 ballots were cast for Kious on Tuesday, compared to 3,052 for Patrician. Both candidates are from Algonquin.

Kious will succeed incumbent Maggie Auger, who did not run for re-election.

Kious, a retired project manager, said the Longmeadow Parkway project is one of his biggest concerns. He wants to eliminate a proposed toll and find other ways to fund the bridge over the Fox River.

Patrician is an employee benefits adviser and serves as chairman of the village of Algonquin planning and zoning commission. He says he would support have supported Kane County's property tax freeze in hopes of providing tax relief to constituents.
