Police: Man 'spying on' girls charged with disorderly conduct

A Naperville man is accused of scaring two girls by indicating he was "spying on" them, among other actions police classified as disorderly conduct, authorities said Friday.

Owen M. Calkins, 67, of the 1700 block of Killdeer Drive, has been charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after police say he "alarmed and disturbed" the girls, ages 8 and 9, on Oct. 25.

During an encounter on the same block where Calkins lives, police said Calkins yelled at the girls to "shut up," asked them to hug him, then placed his hands to his eyes to simulate binoculars and indicate he was watching them.

Police say they're looking for anyone else who might have had a similar interaction with Calkins in the recent past. Anyone with information about this encounter or other similar situations is asked to contact investigators at (630) 420-6726.
