Barrington lowers tax levy nearly 10 percent

Barrington property owners will get a financial break from village government next year.

The village board recently set a new tax levy that officials said is estimated to decline by 9.9 percent.

Schools typically account for the largest portion of suburban property tax bills. Schools, villages, park districts and other units of government each establish annual tax levies that property owners receive on their bills.
