Carpentersville man charged with 5th DUI

A 45-year-old Carpentersville man was arrested and charged Thursday morning with his fifth DUI after a traffic stop in East Dundee.

Guillermo Tello Jr., of the 2800 block of East Bridleway Court, is charged with aggravated DUI/5th offense, aggravated DUI with no license, and driving while license suspended/4th to 9th offense, according to Kane County court records.

Tello was arrested after a traffic stop about 12:04 a.m. near routes 25 and 72 in East Dundee for disobeying a traffic control device and speeding 21 to 25 mph over the limit, records show. He also was cited for improper lane use.

His bail was set at $100,000, meaning he must post $10,000 to be released from the Kane County jail while the case is pending. If he does post bail, he is to wear an alcohol monitoring device and not have any new arrests.

Additional information about the previous four DUI arrests was not immediately available. Tello did not have any previous DUI arrests in Kane, DeKalb, DuPage or McHenry counties, records show.

Tello is next due in court Nov. 2. If convicted of the most severe charge, he faces a minimum of four years in prison.
