Elk Grove Village man killed in Will County crash

A 62-year-old Elk Grove Village man was one of two people who died Sunday evening following a two-car crash in Will County, Illinois State Police officials said.

State police investigators said Arunas Augustaitis was driving northeast on Archer Avenue near the 135th Street intersection near Lemont just before 9:30 p.m., when the Porsche Boxster he was driving crossed into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a Toyota Tercel.

The driver of the Tercel, 36-year-old Jennifer Balice of Lemont, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Augustaitis was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, authorities reported.

The two cars were occupied by the drivers only and no other injuries were reported.

It is unclear if the drivers were wearing seat belts, state police said. The crash remains under investigation, state police officials said.
