Driver injured while trying fix flat in Rolling Meadows

Rolling Meadows police say a woman was injured early Thursday morning when she attempted to fix a flat tire and her car rolled on top of her ankle.

Police Cmdr. Tom Gadomski said the 47-year-old Hoffman Estates woman was driving west on Golf Road at the I-90 underpass when she rolled over debris and the rear driver's-side tire went flat on her Toyota Camry. Gadomski said when the woman went to fix the tire, she didn't realize the car was not in park and the wheel rolled on her ankle. He said the woman called 911 after her ankle was pinned to the pavement.

Authorities were dispatched at 1:25 a.m. He said police officers aided the woman before paramedics arrived and brought her to a hospital.
