'Little Smiles' group to host event at Mundelein school

Sonrisitas 21, a community group made up of families with children diagnosed with Down syndrome, is hosting an event from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 at Carl Sandburg Middle School, 855 W. Hawley St., Mundelein. "Sonrisitas 21" is Spanish for "Little Smiles 21," and the number "21" identifies the extra full or partial 21st chromosome that causes Down syndrome. The event is open to the community and will feature a Down syndrome therapist as speaker, free food and a variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment.
