Endorsement: Edly-Allen in Illinois House 51

A strange thing happened on the way to the House District 51 election: Incumbent Nick Sauer resigned in August over social media posts of his ex-girlfriend's nude photos, Republican leaders appointed Helene Miller-Walsh to replace Sauer and her race against Democrat Mary Edly-Allen suddenly became one to watch. We back Edly-Allen, an elementary school teacher from Libertyville making her first run for public office, over Miller-Walsh of Mundelein, whose Leenie Productions manages the radio show and speaking engagements for her husband, former congressman Joe Walsh. The two differ broadly on many issues, but Edly-Allen's political independence and common-sense approach to Illinois' problems make her our choice. We endorse Edly-Allen in District 51.
