Green Oaks schedules open houses on tax referendum

Green Oaks is hosting an open house regarding a proposed tax to repair village roads at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Oak Grove School junior high cafeteria, 1700 O'Plaine Road.

Voters on Nov. 6 will decide whether the village should enact its first property tax to provide sustained funding specifically for road work. The owner of a single-family residence having a fair market value of $250,000 will pay $77.53 per year, or $154.65 per year for a $500,000 home.

A second open house will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Oak Grove elementary cafeteria.
