Realtors Against Homelessness is planning a Nov. 7 fundraiser in Hoffman Estates to benefit the more than 200 homeless students attending Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211.

Organizers say these students are trying to receive an education while also contending with a lack of regular or adequate overnight housing. Some live in shelters or sleep in automobiles due to their families' severe financial challenges.

During its eight-year existence, RAH has partnered with the D211 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that has directly allocated the more than $200,000 raised to homeless students through high school counselor referrals.

The money provides aid for rent or temporary housing, as well as utilities, food, clothing, school supplies, medical care and transportation assistance.

"We are grateful for our partnership with the District 211 Foundation as we continue our support for students experiencing homelessness in our area," said Cindy Eich, one of the original 10 Realtors who created RAH.

"Our real estate community has come together in a powerful way over these past eight years."

The fundraiser will run from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Stonegate Banquet Centre, 2401 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates. There will be raffles, live and silent auctions, and a performance by the band 7th heaven from 7 to 9 p.m.

Tickets are $50 if bought by Wednesday, Oct. 31, and $60 after. Hors d'oeuvres and a drink ticket are included. Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

Visit RAH211.com to purchase tickets or get more information about sponsorships. Further information about the fundraiser and RAH can be found at D211foundation.org.
