Mundelein schools to share safety grant

Mundelein police have been awarded a $262,699 federal grant to improve safety at local schools, U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider's office announced Thursday.

The grant will fund the construction of secure entries at Mundelein High School and the Mundelein Elementary District 75 campuses, as well as the installation of panic buttons at the schools that will connect to the police dispatch center.

The grant is part of a Justice Department program that will send nearly $25 million to 91 communities across the country, according to a news release.
